Description
Sharpless-2 171 is a star forming region in the constellation Cepheus. Also designated NGC 7822, the region is home to the young star cluster know as Berkeley 59. These images are created from the narrow band emissions of Sulfur 2, Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen 3. They were mapped to the red, green and blue channels respectively (the Hubble Palette). The region is very strong in Ha emissions, in order to show more detail, the number of exposures was adjusted to capture more light from SII and OIII. The colors are false in the sense the Ha and SII are both red in color and OIII is more of a teal color.
